The Bauchi State Agency for Persons with Disabilities, led by its Executive Secretary, Hon. Brisca Joram Aarom, has distributed relief materials to 500 persons with disabilities (PWDs) affected by recent floods across the state’s 20 local government areas. The intervention was carried out in partnership with the North-East Development Commission (NEDC).
The event, which took place in Bauchi, was attended by top dignitaries including the Head of Service, Barrister Sani Muhammad Umar; representatives of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC); and other key stakeholders.
Items distributed included bags of rice, cartons of spaghetti, gallons of cooking oil, shadda materials, and baby shirts.
In his remarks, Barrister Umar commended the Agency for its dedication to the welfare of persons with disabilities and applauded the NEDC for its sustained collaboration. He also lauded the Bauchi State Government for promoting inclusive governance and reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring that PWDs are included in the upcoming state recruitment exercise.
Representatives of the ICPC hailed the initiative as a model of transparency and accountability in humanitarian response, emphasizing the importance of inter-agency cooperation in delivering aid to vulnerable groups.
Chairman of Rapid Respond (Kare Muradu), Alh. Mato Danturawa Dass, expressed appreciation to Hon. Aarom and the State Government for their continued support toward the empowerment of PWDs in Bauchi State.
In her welcome address, Hon. Aarom thanked the NEDC, Bauchi State Government, and all supporting partners for their contribution. She reaffirmed her agency’s commitment to ensuring that persons with disabilities are not left behind in relief, empowerment, and development programs.
The successful distribution across all 20 local government areas underscores the agency’s determination to improve the resilience and well-being of persons with disabilities in Bauchi State.
