The National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) has congratulated the Nigerian Armed Forces on the occasion of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day, commending their bravery, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to the defence of Nigeria’s territorial integrity.
In a goodwill message, the Executive Secretary of the Commission, Chief Ayuba Burki Gufwan, acknowledged the immense challenges faced by the military in the face of persistent and complex security threats across the country, describing their dedication and gallantry as worthy of national honour.
“We recognise the enormous sacrifices and difficult conditions under which our armed forces operate. Your bravery and dedication in safeguarding our nation are truly commendable,” Gufwan stated.
The NCPWD particularly praised the armed forces for their sustained efforts in combating banditry and terrorism, noting that their courage has continued to enable millions of Nigerians to live in relative peace and security.
Chief Gufwan also paid tribute to officers and soldiers who sustained injuries or became persons with disabilities in the course of duty, describing them as national heroes who deserve comprehensive care and support.
He called for strengthened rehabilitation, empowerment, and reintegration programmes for wounded soldiers, assuring that the Commission remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote their dignity, inclusion, and wellbeing.
“As a nation, we must not forget those who paid the price with their bodies in defence of our freedom. We appeal for comprehensive rehabilitation support for our wounded heroes and reaffirm our commitment to standing with them,” he added.
The NCPWD Executive Secretary concluded by honouring the Nigerian Armed Forces for their invaluable contributions to national peace and security, reiterating the Commission’s solidarity with the military and their families.
