The National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with H.E.I.R Women Hub to strengthen workplace sexual harassment prevention and response systems in public and private institutions.
The agreement was formalised during a courtesy visit by the H.E.I.R Women Hub delegation to the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja. The partnership seeks to create safer, more inclusive, and dignified work environments, particularly for women and persons with disabilities who face heightened risks of harassment and discrimination.
Executive Director of H.E.I.R Women Hub, Ms. Anuli Aniebo, said the collaboration will focus on developing workplace policies, promoting awareness, strengthening reporting mechanisms, and building institutional capacity to effectively address sexual harassment. She stressed the need for coordinated action to ensure accountability and protect employees’ rights.
Executive Secretary of the NCPWD, Hon. Ayuba Burki Gufwan, welcomed the partnership, describing it as a strategic step toward advancing the Commission’s mandate to promote the rights, welfare, and inclusion of persons with disabilities, especially in the workplace.
He reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to fostering harassment-free and inclusive work environments, emphasising that protecting the dignity and safety of vulnerable groups remains a priority.
Both organisations pledged to sustain the partnership and roll out practical interventions aimed at strengthening institutional frameworks, promoting respectful workplace culture, and addressing gender-based and disability-related vulnerabilities.
