The National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) has applauded the Honorable Minister of Police Affairs, the Chairman of the Police Service Commission, and the Inspector General of Nigeria Police Force for their decision to retain a brave officer who encountered a disability while serving our nation.
The commission said the action is in accordance with Section 28/29 of the Discrimination Against Persons with Disabilities (Prohibition) Act 2018.
Unlike previous practices of dismissing officers who faced disabilities in the line of duty, the commission said the move marks a significant shift towards inclusivity and support within our workforce.
The Commission further lauded the national recognition of meritorious service, exemplified by the officer’s receipt of the National IGP award for outstanding contributions.
Executive Secretary, Dr. James Lalu, extended the Commission’s tangible support to the officer by offering a modern prosthetic limb.
Lalu said “this gesture aims to facilitate the officer’s continued service to the nation, ensuring they have the necessary tools and support to carry out their duties effectively.
“We invite the officer to visit our headquarters at No. 79 Ralph Shodeinde Street, CBD Abuja, for measurement and further assistance.
“This initiative underscores the importance of recognizing and accommodating the needs of individuals with disabilities within the workforce, fostering a more inclusive and supportive environment for all members of society.” He said

That is a nice one, barvo to Nigerian police force . I wish and request that this should not ends at only retaining personals with disabilities but to extend to applicants wth disabilities that may be seeking for the job.
