The Zone A Coordinator of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Comr Zakari Hashim had on Saturday, 12 October, 2019 attended the handing over and swearing in of new executives ceremony of Students Representative Council (SRC) of Gombe State University (GSU).

The Coordinator requested the New SRC President Comrade Anas Ahmed and the other Excos to remain committed to improving the lives of GSU Students by consolidating efforts to address key issues as well as emerging challenges of the campuses, resettling and dealing decisively with the new flashes of insecurity, drug abuse, sexual harassment and the impacts on more welfare for GSU students including students with disabilities by giving them special consideration like the outgoing president recorded in his achievements.

He also promised to work collaboratively with the SRC leadership, to rebuild, reposition and take NANS Zone A to a prosperous height.

Meanwhile the immediate outgoing President of Gombe State University Deaf Students Association Comr. Yusuf kumo who was invited to witness the swearing in ceremony of the newly elected executives praised the outgoing President of Students Representative Council for adopting inclusive policies by not only reducing/returning 5% of the registration fees of all students with disabilities during the 2018/19 registration session but also made efforts to ensure that at least one person with disability will represent disabled students in council (SRC) which is the first of its kind. He noted that SRC is similar or to say equivalent with Student Union Government.

Mr. Kumo urged the newly elected executives to continue with the inclusive policies started by the outgoing President Comr Sahibi Umar Gombe by carrying Deaf and students with disabilities along.

The NANS zone A coordinator prayed that Allah SWT to guide them through this herculean task.
