Auwalu Yusuf, a person with physical disability, has been training youths on tricycles repairs, as part of commitments in complementing government’s effort towards creating employments for youths.

Yusuf, who is physically disability, made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Kano.

He said his effort showed that, “there is ability in disability”.

Yusuf said that the training is free to both normal and persons with disabilities.

He therefore called on other physically-challenged persons to engage in such vocational skills, to enable them become self reliant, instead of begging on the streets.

Yusuf said that he learnt the work in 2019 at Kwanar Sabo CBT workshop.

“Initially, I started with motorcycles repairs, but as a result of the ban on motorcycles in the state, I switched over to tricycle repairs.

“With my disability, I can ride a tricycle very well just like every other person.

“I test run a tricycle to know its problems before repairs,” he said.

He said that, “On daily basis, I make enough money to take care of my family.

“I have built a house and bought a tricycle from this job.

“Currently, I have at least 10 boys working under me,” he said.

He explained that he has trained many youths on the job who can now feed themselves and train others, adding that he would continue to train more youths to enable them become self reliant.

Yusuf explained that he now wants an opportunity to undertake further studies, saying “Currently, I am a National Diploma holder in mechanical engineering from the Kano State School of Technology.” (NAN)
