It was a period of intense restless struggle for members of Disability community in Lagos State as they thronged many streets of Lagos calling the attention of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to appoint HRM Queen Halimat Adenike Tejuosho to head the ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.
The group made the calls as part of their collective action to join other people with disabilities across the country to collectively amplify their voices with the rest of Nigerians in appealing to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to consider appointing Honourable Halimat Adenike Tejuosho as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation to replace the suspended minister, Betta Edu due to her various philanthropist gesture towards the less privileged members of the society and persons with disability in the country.
The group, who gathered at the Volleyball Court of Teslim Balogun Stadium Surulere Lagos State, believes that Queen Halimat Tejuosho if given the green light to serve as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs will use her office effectively to serve Nigerians to the best of her ability. Noting that they have trust in her for delivery of service.
Speaking to pressmen, the head of persons with disability, Lagos State chapter, Gbolahan Jonna expressed delight over the support they have been getting from Tejuosho over the years, saying she deserves to be appointed as the Minister.
Corroborating, Jonna’s earlier stance, a visually impaired member of the group identified as Adeyemi Adeseye, disclosed that the testimonies from his friends outside Lagos revealed the passion Tejuoso has for people especially indigent Nigerians.
Adeseye, noted that they need an individual that understand their plights and could provide the desired solution, stressing that, Tejuosho carries this qualities.
INN reports that the volume of Humanitarian and socially responsive activities carried out on daily basis by Queen Halimat Adenike Tejuosho through her humanity centred foundation known as “Queen Halimat Adenike Foundation” that has added values towards alleviating the sufferings of less privileged members of the society and especially the PWDs across the country can not be quantified. She has over the years used the foundation to put smile on many faces, shade tears of sorrow through empowerment, skills acquisition training, educational and medical support, to mention but a few.
