Kwara Sports Commission Hails AbdulRazaq’s Commitment to PwDs

by Inclusive News Network

The Kwara State Sports Commission has lauded Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his unwavering support for sports development, especially initiatives targeted at Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) in the state.

According to the commission, Kwara State continues to produce outstanding para-athletes who are excelling at national and international competitions, a development it attributed to the governor’s consistent financial backing and moral encouragement of sports.

The commission reiterated its resolve to promote para-sports as a tool for inclusion, empowerment and social integration, stressing that PwDs must be supported to actively contribute to the growth and development of society.

The Executive Chairman of the commission, Mr. Bolakale Adisa Mogaji, stated this in Ilorin during the 2025 International Day of Persons Living with Disabilities, organised by the Kwara State Ministry of Social Development.

The celebration, held under the theme “Fostering Inclusive Societies for Advancing Social Progress,” featured a range of activities including empowerment programmes, sporting events and a trade fair.

Highlighting the sporting aspect of the event, Team Kwara defeated Team Ekiti 3–0 in a handball match held to mark the occasion.

The programme also showcased an exhibition of products made by persons living with disabilities, underscoring their resilience, skills and economic potential.

At the event, the Kwara State Government distributed wheelchairs, crutches, walking aids and cash support to beneficiaries as part of efforts to promote inclusion and social welfare.
