Innovation Challenge: NDW Selects 15 WWDs For Special Training, Finalists To Be Decided On International Women’s Day

A total of fifteen Women with Disabilities (WWDs) have been selected by the Network for Disabled Women, NDW, for a virtual training which would culminate in a business pitching competition from where finalists would emerge.

The training seeks to empower women with disabilities in the country through strategic mentorship and giving of grants for startups.

The Innovation Challenge, an initiative of Sightsavers is being implemented by Network of Disabled Women.

The aim of the competition is to empower and motivate women with disabilities who are into entrepreneurship with necessary skills and grants to kick off their enterprises.

The call for applications was made in February. Of a total of 59 applicants, only 15 made the list. Selection was based on originality the drive to equip and grow people in their immediate environment.

Successful applicants are currently undergoing an online training that ends today, Friday, 4th March, 2022.

Grand finale is slated for March 8th (International Women’s Day) where there would be a live pitching event. The top three winners will emerge and receive a grant to start their business. The winners will also enjoy a one month business mentorship session from reputable women entrepreneurs.

10. Sidikat Musa – Hair Stylist – Deaf

11. Batula Temitope Princess – Toiletries producer – Visually impaired

12. Yusuf Zainab – bag production – Albino

13. Ogbo Tina – Trader – Visually impaired

14. Adejoh Joy – poultry farming – visually impaired

15. Faniran Ifeoluwa – Graphics designer – Visually Impaired.
