Inclusive Education: BUK Lecturer Supports Blind School with Braille Learning Tools

In furtherance of inclusive education and access to learning for persons with visual impairments, Prof. Ya’u Musa DanTata of Bayero University Kano has donated Braille slates and styluses to the International School for the Blind, Kwana Hudu, Kano State.

The donation took place on Thursday, January 1, 2026, during activities marking the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, organised by the management of the school.

Receiving the items, the school’s Proprietor, Malam Sani Yusuf Fagge, applauded Prof. DanTata for his unwavering commitment to the advancement of education for blind and visually impaired learners. He noted that the materials would significantly enhance teaching and learning in the school.

Addressing participants at the event, Prof. DanTata called for stronger unity among persons with disabilities and emphasized the need for sustained advocacy.

He urged government at all levels to honour pledges made towards disability inclusion and encouraged public and private stakeholders to mainstream persons with disabilities in all development programmes.

The ceremony attracted notable personalities, including Dr. Abubakar Isa of Bayero University Kano, the Chairman of the Nigeria Association of the Blind, Kano State Chapter, Malam Musa Muhammad Kura, Malam Ibrahim Umar Abdulkharim, and other stakeholders in the disability sector.
