The Cedar Seed Foundation has taken its advocacy on disability inclusion and awareness creation in places of worship to National Christian Centre.
This was disclosed in its day 3 of the International Disability Dialogue (IDD) in commemoration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, 2023. The theme of the event was, “Awareness Creation on Disability Inclusion in Churches.”
In a statement made available to Inclusive News Network, Cedar Seed Foundation (CSF) noted that persons with disabilities have the right to worship but most times they find it difficult to access most places of worship.
The event was organised to create awareness on the need and importance of inclusion of persons with disabilities in Churches.
Miss. Roseline Daniel, the Deputy Executive Director of CSF while stressing the need for accessibility of churches to persons with disabilities said that many christians with disabilities do not go to church because most churches are not accessible to them.
Miss Janet Alabede, Gender Inclusion Officer, CSF, stressed the need for accessibility of churches to persons with disabilities and added that there should be no discrimination towards persons with disabilities because there is no discrimination in Heaven.
Also speaking, Mrs. Angelina Ugben, Executive Director of Inclusive Skill Development Initiative, lamented that most people see persons with disabilities as burdens. She, however, declared that persons with disabilities are not burdens and they should be loved and accepted as the humans that they are. She also added that God uses everyone regardless of disabilities.
Pastor Edward Onabe, Sunday Service Assisting Pastor said that disabilities only exist in the eyes of men, that God doesn’t see disabilities.
