by Inclusive News Network

The House of Representatives Committee on Disability Matters has urged the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to ensure full implementation of the Discrimination Against Persons with Disabilities (Prohibition) Act, 2018, across the aviation sector.

Committee Chairman, Hon. Bashiru Dawodu, gave the directive during an oversight visit to the Authority’s headquarters in Abuja, emphasizing the need for inclusion in employment, accessibility, and support programs for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs). He commended NCAA’s ongoing efforts in complying with the Act and called on the Authority to enforce compliance across all aviation stakeholders.

NCAA Director General, Capt. Chris Najomo—represented by Capt. Donald Tonye—reaffirmed the Authority’s non-discriminatory stance, highlighting accessibility audits and inclusive hiring practices. Public Affairs Director, Michael Achimugu, noted that risk assessments have been completed and implementation of disability-friendly policies is in progress.
