Gombe — The Green Oasis Nature Advocate and Care Initiative (GONACI) has reaffirmed its commitment to environmental sustainability and disability inclusion through a strategic collaboration with the Gombe State Commission for Persons with Disabilities.

During a courtesy visit to the Commission’s office in Gombe, GONACI’s Chief Executive Officer, Hussaini Ishaq Musa, outlined plans to integrate persons with disabilities into the organization’s environmental and agricultural programs.

A key highlight of the discussion was a proposed inclusive tree-planting project in select parts of the state. The Executive Chairman of the Commission, who also serves on the 3G Task Force, pledged to facilitate collaboration with the task force to ensure the success of the initiative.

In addition, GONACI announced plans to train persons with disabilities in eco-friendly agricultural practices, particularly backyard farming techniques for crops such as tomatoes, Irish potatoes, and yams. According to Musa, the program is designed to promote self-reliance and improve livelihoods for participants.

The Commission welcomed the proposal and recommended that the training be short, practical, and impactful. The Chairman further suggested organizing a capacity-building workshop for GONACI staff on disability inclusion, focusing on effective engagement with persons with disabilities.

Commending GONACI’s efforts, the Chairman praised the organization’s commitment to advancing inclusion through environmental and agricultural empowerment.
