Kano, Nigeria — February 7, 2026

The Inclusive Skill Development Initiative (ISDI) has organized a meaningful trauma awareness and healing engagement for persons with disabilities in Sharada, Kano, aimed at promoting emotional well-being and psychological recovery.

The session focused on understanding trauma, its root causes, and its impact on people with special needs. With professional support from Dr. Nasir Rishi, participants were guided through reflective discussions on how trauma affects their emotional health and daily lives, while learning practical and positive coping strategies for healing and resilience.

The programme was led by Mrs. Usaina Umar, Team Lead of the initiative, whose leadership ensured active participation from individuals across various disability groups, including members of the Kano State Association of Persons with Dwarfism and other disability clusters.

ISDI noted that the engagement aligns with its commitment to empowering persons with disabilities through self-awareness, confidence building, self-esteem development, and emotional healing. The organization emphasized that understanding personal pain can help transform trauma into strength, resilience, and hope.

Reaffirming its mission, ISDI pledged to continue creating safe and inclusive spaces where persons with disabilities can heal, grow, and live with dignity. Special appreciation was extended to Carefronting Nigeria, Mrs. Angela (Founder of ISDI), Mrs. Usaina Umar, and Dr. Nasir Rishi for their contributions and support toward the success of the programme.
