- Assures On Quick Implementation
The Ogun state governor, senator Ibikunle Amosun in an interactive session with special persons, held at the June 12 cultural centre, Kuto, Ogun state disclosed that the Ogun State Disability Bill has already been assented to and signed into law, INN reports.
The bill, he said, aim to eliminate discrimination against people with disabilities and equalize opportunities.
Governor Amosun himself who had instructed the Commissioner for Special Duties to produce the copy of the disability bill he signed; he brandished it to the audience to see for themselves.
He assures all people living with disabilities that all machineries will be put in place for its implementation. However, he enjoined them to exercise patient and promised better and more inclusive, enabling environment. He mooted that his successor might be the one to implement it citing that there was not enough fund to implement it at the moment. Amosun quoted Lagos State as a typical example. He said former Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Fashola signed the bill but it was Later that Governor Akinwunmi Ambode implemented the bill.
He said he would, however, try to make sure that people with disabilities will feel the impact of the bill.
On the whole, he affirmed his commitment for a better and enjoyable state for all good people of Ogun irrespective of their disabilities. In his words “Ogun state has eliminated all forms of discrimination and equal opportunity awaits everybody”
