YTOP Global, a youth empowerment foundation, has donated educational, welfare and vocational items worth over ₦1 million to the Modakeke School of Special Needs in Osun State.
The items, which were officially handed over on Saturday, included beds, mattresses, learning materials, food items, digital devices, vocational tools and cash support.
Addressing stakeholders at the event, YTOP Global Adviser, Prof. Bukola Oyebanji, said the donation was aimed at enhancing the comfort and learning environment of the pupils while easing the burden on teachers who often provide additional support from personal resources.
She disclosed that the school still needed key facilities such as a generator, agricultural inputs, vocational equipment and materials to support its fish farming activities, calling on the public to assist with specific items already identified by the school.
Founder of the foundation, Oluwadamilare Ekundayo, said the intervention was part of YTOP Global’s annual initiative, Contribution to Children with Special Needs.
According to him, the foundation conducted a needs assessment before donating beds, learning aids, mini laptops for pupils with learning impairments, educational games, sound-learning tools, food items and barbing equipment. He added that ₦100,000 was also provided as seed funding for the school’s soap-making project to support income generation.
Ekundayo said the donation exceeded ₦1 million in value and urged organisations and institutions to support children with special needs, noting that empowering them would enable them to contribute meaningfully to society.
A teacher at the school, Edoro Timothy Stephen, expressed appreciation to YTOP Global, describing the donation as impactful, particularly the provision of mattresses. He added that the school still required laptops and projectors to effectively teach hearing-impaired pupils using sign language and specialised learning software.
