The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Special Needs and Equal Opportunities, Mohammed Abba Isa, has flagged off the Livelihood and Cash Support Initiative in Lagos, describing it as a key component of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Speaking at the launch, Isa stated that the programme goes beyond temporary relief, noting that it represents a deliberate and transformative intervention designed to empower Persons with Disabilities and other vulnerable Nigerians with sustainable livelihoods and direct financial support. He explained that the initiative aims to restore dignity, promote independence, and ensure meaningful participation in national development.
The presidential aide further disclosed that the Lagos rollout marks the first phase of a nationwide plan to expand the programme across all 774 Local Government Areas in the country. He emphasized that the administration is committed to ensuring that no community or citizen is left behind, regardless of location, physical ability, or social circumstance.
Isa commended the co-convener, Ademola Adetokunbo Ade John, alongside development partners and stakeholders for their dedication to the successful implementation of the initiative.
He also expressed appreciation to the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for providing the enabling environment that made the programme possible.
He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s resolve to build a more inclusive, equitable, and prosperous society, stressing that the Renewed Hope Agenda remains focused on creating real opportunities for all Nigerians, particularly Persons with Disabilities and other vulnerable groups.
