The National Executive Secretary, National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD), James Lalu has said that the disability community has suffered enough neglect and appealed to president Bola Tinubu to recommend philanthropist, Adenike Tejuosho as the Minister of Humanitarian affairs and poverty Alleviation.
Describing Tejuosho as a huge asset to the nation, Lalu expressed confidence in Tejuosho, who he described as one of the few political leaders in Nigeria committed to promoting the welfare of people with disabilities, to bring the much desired change.
The NCPWD boss, who made the call in a statement on Wednesday, said: “We want to use this opportunity to call on his excellency, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to consider Dr. Adenike Tejuosho for the opportunity to manage this ministry.
“It is our hope and aspiration that when she comes here, what she has shown to the disability community out of office will be tripled. She has always been committed to ensuring that the disability community is not left behind. As we have always said, the disability community has suffered enough and enough is enough.
“During his campaign, President Tinubu made a commitment and he as started showing the commitment but he needs the hands of people with the commitment, compassion, and the interest to lead the ministry in order to give us hope.
“We use this opportunity to congratulate Dr Adenike Tejuosho in advance, because we hope that President Tinubu will listen to the yearning and aspirations of people with the disability by providing opportunities for the right people that will promote quality of life for the disabled community and the less privileged.”
