The Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD), Ayuba Gufwan, has applauded Muhammad Mukhtar for his steadfast commitment to improving the lives of persons with disabilities (PWDs) in Nigeria. Speaking at an empowerment event in Kazaure, Jigawa State, Gufwan described the initiative as a significant milestone in fostering inclusivity and support for PWDs.
During the visit, Gufwan witnessed the distribution of essential food items to over 500 persons with disabilities in preparation for the Ramadan season. In addition, 100 beneficiaries received tricycle wheelchairs, generously donated by the Beautiful Gate Handicap Centre, Jos. He praised the organization for its remarkable contributions, noting that its provision of mobility aids and empowerment opportunities has transformed thousands of lives across Nigeria.
“When individuals and organizations collaborate to support persons with disabilities, we create a more inclusive and equitable society,” Gufwan stated. He emphasized the immense challenge the government faces in catering to the needs of over 35.5 million PWDs in Nigeria, urging continued advocacy and community-driven initiatives to bridge the gap.
“As a Commission, we prioritize the well-being and rights of persons with disabilities. Our vision is to build an inclusive society where everyone enjoys equal opportunities, rights, and dignity. We need more individuals like Mukhtar, whose dedication to the cause serves as an inspiration for others,” he added.
In response, Mukhtar, who represents the people of Kazaure, Roni, Gwiwa, and Yankwashi Federal Constituency, expressed his gratitude to the Executive Secretary for his unwavering advocacy. He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting and promoting the rights of PWDs, promising continued efforts to enhance their quality of life.
The beneficiaries, visibly moved by the gesture, expressed heartfelt gratitude to both Gufwan and Mukhtar. They offered prayers for their continued success in leadership, recognizing their efforts in championing the rights and welfare of PWDs.
