The National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD), in partnership with the Beautiful Gate Foundation, has collaborated with Senator Abba Moro to distribute thousands of tricycles and assistive devices to persons with disabilities in Otukpo, Benue State.
The distribution ceremony, held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, brought together key dignitaries including Senator Abba Moro, who represents Benue South Senatorial District, and the Executive Secretary of the NCPWD, Hon. Ayuba Burki Gufwan. Also in attendance were community leaders, disability advocates, and representatives of organizations of persons with disabilities from across the state.
The event was marked by joy and gratitude as beneficiaries received mobility aids that many described as life-changing and empowering.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Executive Secretary of the NCPWD, Hon. Ayuba Burki Gufwan, reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to improving the welfare and inclusion of persons with disabilities nationwide.
“For us as a Commission, we are delighted to put smiles on the faces of persons with disabilities, which is one of our core mandates. Our goal is to create an enabling environment where all persons with disabilities can thrive in every aspect of life,” he stated.
Senator Abba Moro, in his remarks, commended the NCPWD and the Beautiful Gate Foundation for their continuous efforts to promote accessibility and inclusion for persons with disabilities.
“I must commend the effort put in place so far. Your generosity will go a long way in impacting the lives of persons with disabilities in my region. As Minority Leader of the Senate, I will continue to ensure that the dividends of democracy reach everyone, without discrimination,” he said.
He further pledged the National Assembly’s commitment to supporting legislation that promotes equality, inclusion, and social justice for all Nigerians.
