Disability Agency Urges Stakeholders to Strengthen Collaboration for Effective Disability Support

by Inclusive News Network

The Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA) has renewed its call for stronger collaboration among stakeholders in the disability community, stressing that timely information sharing is key to delivering impactful interventions for persons with disabilities.

The General Manager of LASODA, Mrs. Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, made this appeal during a virtual meeting with Heads of Associations of Persons with Disabilities, Managers of Disability Homes, service providers, and other key stakeholders on January 19, 2026.

She noted that delays in responding to official requests—such as the submission of cluster head lists and accurate member data—often hamper the Agency’s planning process and affect the timely rollout of support programmes.

“Prompt responses to requests from LASODA are crucial to the success of our interventions. When information is delayed, it limits our capacity to plan effectively and reach those who need support the most,” she said.

Mrs. Oyetunde-Lawal underscored the importance of open communication and collaboration, urging stakeholders to engage the Agency for clarification and to contribute ideas that would promote the full inclusion of persons with disabilities in the social and economic life of Lagos State.

She also highlighted key achievements recorded by LASODA in the past year, including welfare support for elderly persons with disabilities, the provision of assistive devices and work tools for civil servants with disabilities, and targeted programmes aimed at improving the wellbeing of children with disabilities.

Despite these gains, the LASODA boss acknowledged that more effort is required, stressing that sustained stakeholder cooperation remains vital to expanding the scope and effectiveness of disability interventions across the state.
