The Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA) reaffirmed its dedication to innovation and inclusion with the successful hosting of the 2025 Ability Expo and Talent Hunt.
The one-day event, held at the Shomolu Local Government Secretariat, provided Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) the opportunity to exhibit their products, showcase their creativity, and display unique skills before an appreciative audience.
Highlights of the programme included lively talent hunt competitions in singing and dancing, which captivated attendees and demonstrated the boundless potential of the disability community. Winners across the categories were rewarded with cash prizes to encourage them to keep honing their talents.
Speaking at the event on behalf of LASODA’s General Manager, Mrs. Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, the Director of Medical Rehabilitation, Mobility Aids and Appliances Department, Mrs. Olukanni-Abokhai, emphasized the agency’s unwavering commitment to empowerment and equal opportunities. She noted that persons with disabilities are defined by their contributions, not their limitations.
LASODA also extended appreciation to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his continued support of inclusive initiatives.
Director of Social Development and Integration, Mr. Akeem Kelani, applauded the creativity and resilience of PWDs, pledging the state government’s sustained commitment to building a more inclusive Lagos.
