The Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA) is strengthening its partnership with the Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC) to boost inclusive sports development for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).
During a working visit to the Commission’s office, LASODA’s General Manager, Mrs. Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, was received by LSSC Director-General, Mr. Lekan Fatodu, and his management team.
Mrs. Oyetunde-Lawal highlighted the importance of adaptive sports and recreational activities in encouraging PWD participation, building confidence, and promoting social inclusion. She stressed that inclusive sports help combat stigma, celebrate diversity, and present athletes with disabilities as role models who inspire others to break barriers.
She also recommended the appointment of dedicated cluster heads to ensure disability sports programs address specific needs.
Responding, Mr. Nunayon Travich, on behalf of the LSSC, reaffirmed the Lagos State Government’s long-term vision to make sports accessible to all, regardless of ability or background.
