The Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening inclusive education policies and programmes in Lagos State following a strategic engagement with the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (MBSE), Abisola Dokunmu-Adegbite.

The Permanent Secretary, accompanied by members of her delegation, paid a courtesy visit to LASODA on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, where discussions focused on advancing inclusive education and improving access to quality learning opportunities for persons with disabilities across the state.

Welcoming the delegation, the General Manager of LASODA, Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, described the visit as a significant step toward strengthening collaboration between both institutions in addressing the educational needs of learners with disabilities. She reiterated LASODA’s commitment to ensuring that persons with disabilities are fully integrated into mainstream education through improved policies, accessible facilities, and stronger institutional partnerships.

Mrs. Oyetunde-Lawal also highlighted key challenges affecting inclusive education in Lagos State, including the limited number of inclusive schools, inadequate specialised curricula for learners with disabilities, and the shortage of trained special education teachers and sign language interpreters in public schools.

Responding, Mrs. Dokunmu-Adegbite acknowledged the importance of the issues raised and recommended the establishment of a joint working committee between the Ministry and LASODA to address key concerns and strengthen efforts toward inclusive education in Lagos State.
