The Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA) has reiterated the call for greater disability inclusion in leadership and governance spaces.

Speaking at the 7th Edition of the Women in Governance Conference, the agency’s General Manager, Mrs. Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, stressed that leadership cannot be considered complete without ensuring equitable opportunities for marginalized groups, especially persons with disabilities (PWDs).

“Inclusion is not just about representation; it’s about building systems that empower every woman—regardless of her abilities or background—to reach her full potential,” she said.

The high-profile event, held on Thursday, September 25, 2026, at The Civic Center, Anthonio Hall, Ikoyi, Lagos, was organized in collaboration with the Association of Corporate Governance Professionals of Nigeria (ACGPN). With the theme “Women in Leadership: Navigating Challenges and Seizing Opportunities,” the conference brought together women leaders, policymakers, and governance experts to deliberate on ways to strengthen women’s participation in leadership.

The Lagos First Lady, Dr. Mrs. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, represented by Mrs. Oyinkansola Osiyemi, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment. Other dignitaries included ACGPN Council Chairman, Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa, and several women leaders across multiple sectors.

The conference provided a platform for dialogue and collaboration, where participants explored strategies to dismantle barriers, leverage emerging opportunities, and drive sustainable change in governance and leadership.
