Aneth Isaya, the founder and director of Furaha ya wanawake wajasiriamali kwa viziwi Tanzania (FUWAVITA) in Swahili language when translated to English to mean the Tanzania Joy Women Entrepreneurship For The Deaf, was elected into the executives of Tanzania US States Alumni Association on Saturday, February 22, 2020.
In a statement sent to INN, Aneth narrated how she got to be a member of TUSSAA after she had attended YALI East Africa Nairobi centre last year. The programme was funded by US government and YALI East Africa Nairobi centre.
With just one year as a member of the association, Aneth applied for the post of Public Relations Officer, challenging nine other contestants with no form of disability. INN gathers that the competition was very tough.
It was gathered that each member was asked to recount his/her experience in leadership and what they will do to bring change to TUSSAA, Aneth being one of the contestants in a statement sent to INN said “My point was that if I became the Public Relations Officer, I will use the opportunity to promote inclusive disability awareness to the members so as to ensure people with Disabilities in Tanzania are included in all spheres socially, economically and politically as well. I want an inclusive society”
“Also, I will use my skills and knowledge to bring development and hence show the society that even persons with disability can lead in an inclusive society also using social mass media page to advertise TUSSAA in and out of Tanzania”
At the end of the election, Aneth was declared winner and has become an inspiration for many like her who mount every challenge they face in life. Aneth dreamt it and she achieved it.
The TUSSAA is an International organization aiming to empower youths and link them with different opportunities and also emphasizes on the importance of being a volunteer.
There were four persons living with disabilities at the conference, Aneth (deaf),two persons with albinism and one blind man.
INN gathers that one of the Persons with Albinism, Gamariel Mboya contested for the post of chairmanship but lost to his opponent.
