The APC Taraba Deaf Supporters Group has appealed to the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba State to ensure the inclusion of persons with hearing impairment in the party’s ward and local government leadership structures.
In a letter addressed to the State Chairman of the party, the group expressed concern over the continued exclusion of hearing-impaired members from appointments and elective positions, particularly as Ward and Local Government Area (LGA) Disability Leaders, despite their significant contributions to the party’s electoral successes.
The group noted that no person with hearing impairment has ever been appointed or elected into such leadership roles across the state’s wards and 16 local government areas, a situation they described as unjust and contrary to the principles of equity, fairness, and inclusion.
Speaking on behalf of the group, the State Coordinator, Comrade Rabiu Mohammed Adamu, urged the party leadership to consider their request in the interest of justice and peace, while calling for deliberate steps to ensure meaningful representation of Deaf persons within the APC structure.
He added that such inclusion would strengthen internal democracy and promote a more inclusive political future in Taraba State.
