Deaf Man Share His Experience On The Electronic Voting Exercise In Kaduna

Julius Shemang, a Deaf disability rights activist, share his experience with the Kaduna State Council elections, INN reports

Mr Shemang, took to his facebook page to share his thoughts about the electronic voting system while enjoining persons with disabilities to arm themselves with their PVCs to exercise their voting rights.

According to him, he wrote, “I have just cast my votes in the ongoing Local Government Council Elections in Kaduna State at the LEA Primary School Malali (Polling Unit No 028).
“Despite the failure of the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIECOM) to make participatory provision for people with disabilities in her Ad-Hoc committee or Staff which we requested for, I had to enjoin my members across the state as a leader to join hands and exercise their franchise as Kaduna State set to make history of being the first State to conduct an electronic voting system in Nigeria”, he explained. INN gathered that Kaduna State became the first state to make use of the electronic voting method in Nigeria, “the experience here so far is that the election is going on peacefully and the process more easy and faster unlike the 2015 general elections”, Shemang noted While still encourage electorates to exercise their voting rights, Shemang said “My message: if you are a registered voter fully armed with your PVC and just relaxing at home in dilemma, I challenge you to go out now and vote. The era of sitting at home complaining about our leaders and raining curses when the power to shape the way rest with us, is over. Go and cast your vote now to make Kaduna State great”, he advised.
