“Deaf” Corps Member Crushed By Train at Ikeja Local Government in Lagos (photo)

A Youth Corper who was on way from Ikeja local government for her CDS was crushed by an oncoming train at ikeja local government area of Lagos, INN reports

 

INN learnt that the Corp member’s body, which was seriously mutilated and was left lying on the rail line, attracting passers-by to the scene.

Sources said that effort to drag her back when an oncoming train was approaching proved abortive as she was busy with her device.

 

“The train was not moving at a high speed. People tried to call her attention to the oncoming train but she failed to notice as she continued pressing her mobile phone”, said an eye-witness

 

“She muffled her ear with earpiece and didn’t hear when people were shouting. A guy ran and tried dragged her from the rail but it was too late, d train cut off her side of d body. She was rushed to hospital but I don’t know if she survived”, another witness added.

 

Another eyewitness, who gave her name as Peace Tina said : “It happened yesterday at Ikeja rail way beside the Local government. The deceased who was a Corp member returning from her CDS was too preoccupied with her phone and did not hear the sound of  an oncoming train. A man tried pushing her away but couldn’t and the train crushed her” she wrote.

INN also learnt from source that a policeman and a few other persons who had gathered around were seen making calls obviously to the appropriate authorities for the needed assistance.

 

There were however conflicting reports by some bloggers as to whether she was deaf or not and also whether she died or survived the incident. INN later found that the lady whose name is Debbie was not Deaf but hearing person. However, INN could not confirm whether she is alive or dead at press time

Recalled that a similar incident happened on February 13, 2018 when a young man identified as Fatai was crushed to death by a train in Ikeja area of Lagos State.

However, sources disclosed that the victim was later rushed to the hospital for medical attention by some bystanders.

Efforts to reach Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Chike Oti, for confirmation and where the victim was rushed to, proved abortive as at press time.
