The Dangote Group has joined in mourning the death of Ruth Otabor, sister to reality TV star Phyna, who passed away weeks after becoming an amputee following an accident with one of the company’s trucks in Auchi, Edo State.
Confirming the development in a statement signed by its management on Sunday, the Group described Ruth’s passing as heartbreaking despite efforts to save her life.
“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Ruth Otabor, who was injured in the recent road incident involving one of our trucks in Auchi, Edo State. On behalf of the entire Dangote Group, we extend our heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and loved ones at this difficult time,” it stated.
The company explained that it had covered Ruth’s medical and financial expenses since the accident and was preparing to fly her abroad for advanced treatment before she died on Sunday morning at about 6:30 a.m.
Reiterating its commitment to safety and compassion, Dangote pledged to continue strengthening its operations while offering prayers for Ruth’s eternal rest and comfort to her grieving family.
