Abuja – The National President of the Nigeria National Association of the Deaf (NNAD), Haruna Muhammad Tsafe, has expressed gratitude and renewed commitment to serve the Deaf community following a final judicial verdict affirming his election.
Tsafe, in a statement issued from the association’s national headquarters in Abuja, described the court’s ruling as a reaffirmation of the mandate freely given to him by members of the association. The verdict effectively brings an end to the electoral petition challenging the outcome of the NNAD presidential election.
“Our unwavering commitment to serve has been tested and ultimately strengthened,” Tsafe said. “This judicial victory is not only personal but a triumph for all of us, reaffirming our right to freely elect our representatives.”
He commended his opponents for pursuing their grievances through legal and constitutional means, saying it demonstrated their belief in the association’s principles and the rule of law.
Reiterating his earlier pledge made during his acceptance speech, Tsafe called for unity and inclusiveness going forward. “I appeal to all of you to join hands with me and the duly elected members of my executive team to build a NNAD where every stakeholder feels valued and our core values are upheld for the collective good,” he urged.
Tsafe reassured all members, regardless of affiliation, of his administration’s commitment to fairness, inclusivity, and open engagement, emphasizing that “every voice matters.”
He also gave thanks to God for the victory, and expressed deep appreciation to his predecessor, Dr. Chidi Olujie, members of the Electoral Committee (ELCOM), the Board of Trustees, and the legal team that defended his mandate and members of the Association.
