Mr. Amobi Chikwendu, Immediate Past President of the Nigeria Paraathletic Federation, emerged on Friday as the new President of the Nigerian Para Swimming Federation.

The Nigerian News Agency reports that the election, held at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium on Friday, was attended by 10 delegates.

Chikwendu got seven votes to defeat Emoghavwe Ochuko, his opponents, who had three votes.

In the vice-presidential election, Bose Kaffo won with seven votes, while his opponent, Peter Agbado, got three votes.

Chikwendu said that he came to Para Swimming to develop the sport in the country.

“I have tried my best in Para athletics and I will do much more in Para swimming to excel.

“We will develop sports and take them to a height that allows it to be a promise for the country.

“I decided to change my portfolio from Para Athletics to Para Swimming and I have done better in Para Swimming,” he said.

NAN reports that the election was held under the direction of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development.

NAN reports that a total of seven Para Sports Federation elections were supposed to take place on Friday, but only six took place.
