Centre for Citizens with Disabilities (CCD) in a continuous efforts to ensure speedy implementation of the Nigeria Disability Act 2018, paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman, Senate Committee on Labour, Senator Benjamin Uwajumogu in his office at Abuja on Tuesday 22nd of October, 2019.
The courtesy visit according to (CCD), Executive Director, Mr. David O. Anyaele is in line with Strengthening Persons with Disabilities Advocacy Capacity In Nigeria program supported by the Kingdom of Netherlands. Anyaele in a statement requested the Senator to demand from line Ministries, Department and Agencies the level of compliance Section 29 of the Act.
The Act, Anyaele added, provides that all employers of labour in public organizations shall, as much as possible, have persons with disabilities constitutes at least five (5%) percent of the employment.
Senator Benjamin Uwajumogu in response made a commitment that he will make sure that Labour carries out all that is provided by the Nigeria Disability Act.
