The Bauchi State chapter of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD) has appealed to the Bauchi State Government to ensure the inclusion of qualified persons with disabilities (PWDs) in the ongoing state recruitment exercise.
The appeal was made on Tuesday by the state chairman of JONAPWD, Haruna Pali, during a courtesy visit to the Chairman of Bogoro Local Government Area, Dr. Yakubu Lawi Sumi, at his office.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Pali stressed that providing employment opportunities for qualified PWDs within the state civil service would significantly reduce the social and economic challenges confronting persons with disabilities. He noted that gainful employment would promote dignity, independence, and active participation in governance and development.
Pali further assured the local government chairman that persons with disabilities possess the skills and capacity to contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of Bogoro Local Government Area, Bauchi State, and the country at large if given equal opportunities.
The delegation expressed appreciation to the council chairman for his concern and support for persons living with disabilities. They also commended Governor Bala Mohammed for his inclusive leadership style and sustained commitment to the welfare of vulnerable groups across the state.
In his response, Dr. Yakubu Lawi Sumi reaffirmed his support for the disability community and pledged to back initiatives that promote inclusion. He assured the delegation that their request would be given due consideration in line with the vision of Governor Bala Mohammed’s administration, which prioritises equity, inclusion, and social justice.
