Association Strengthens Partnership with Special Education Centre, Moves to Address Students’ Welfare Challenges

by Inclusive News Network

The Bauchi State Chapter of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD) has reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive education and improved welfare for learners with disabilities during a courtesy visit to the Principal of the Special Education Centre, Yelwa, Bauchi.

Led by its State Chairman, Malam Haruna Sa’idu Pali, the association’s delegation commended the school’s management for its dedication to nurturing students with special needs and promoting inclusive learning. The visit, held on Tuesday, underscored JONAPWD’s continued advocacy for equitable access to education for persons with disabilities in the state.

However, the delegation received disturbing reports about the neglect of some students by their parents and alleged instances of extortion among learners under the guise of union dues.

Reacting to these concerns, Malam Pali assured the school leadership that JONAPWD would collaborate with the management to address the identified challenges. He emphasized the association’s determination to support initiatives that improve student welfare, boost enrolment, and ensure that learners with disabilities not only remain in school but also complete their education successfully.
