The Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD), Bauchi State Chapter, has intensified advocacy for the inclusion of persons with disabilities in the ongoing Bauchi State recruitment process.

This formed part of discussions during an advocacy visit to the Executive Chairman of Bogoro Local Government Area, Hon. Surveyor Lawi Yakubu Sumi, held on Tuesday at the council secretariat. The visit centered on disability inclusion, welfare concerns, and the effectiveness of government interventions targeted at persons with disabilities.

Hon. Sumi, while welcoming the delegation, lauded the association for its sustained advocacy and reaffirmed his administration’s readiness to collaborate with stakeholders to advance the rights and welfare of persons with disabilities within the local government.

JONAPWD drew attention to the recently released list of successful applicants in the state recruitment exercise, urging authorities to ensure that qualified persons with disabilities are not excluded. The association emphasized that inclusive employment policies are essential for empowering persons with disabilities and promoting equal opportunities. The chairman assured the delegation of his support in advancing inclusiveness in the recruitment process.

Additionally, the association appealed for assistance to indigent blind and deaf students of the Special Education Centre, Yelwa, highlighting the importance of continuous support to improve their educational outcomes and overall development.

The delegation commended Hon. Sumi for his commitment and contributions toward disability inclusion in Bogoro Local Government Area and appreciated his openness and willingness to sustain engagement with disability-focused groups.
