The Gombe State Cybercafé Operators Association (GOSCA) has launched a strategic partnership with the Gombe State Commission for Persons with Disabilities (GSCPWD) to implement a comprehensive digital computer literacy training programme aimed at empowering persons with disabilities (PWDs), their children, and other vulnerable groups across the state.
The collaboration was unveiled during an advocacy visit by the leadership of GOSCA to the Commission, where the Association presented a proposal for a sustainable ICT skills development initiative designed to promote self-reliance, enhance employability, and improve livelihoods through technology-driven empowerment.
Speaking during the meeting, the Acting Secretary of GOSCA, Abdulaziz Abubakar, explained that the training would not be a one-off exercise but a continuous programme structured to deliver long-term impact. He noted that beneficiaries would gain practical computer and digital skills capable of opening up opportunities in education, entrepreneurship, and employment within the digital economy.
In his response, the Executive Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Ishiyaku Adamu, commended the initiative and expressed the Commission’s readiness to collaborate fully with GOSCA to ensure the successful implementation of the programme. He reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to inclusive development and pledged institutional support to guarantee effective outreach and sustainability.
Both organisations expressed optimism that the partnership would significantly boost digital inclusion in Gombe State, particularly among persons with disabilities and other vulnerable populations, while contributing to broader socio-economic development.
