The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Leader for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), Aare (Honourable) Tolu Bankole, has reaffirmed his commitment to disability inclusion and empowerment with a donation of One Million Naira (₦1,000,000) to the Ogun State Chapter of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD).
The donation was announced during a stakeholders’ meeting held on January 6, 2026, at the JONAPWD Centre, Ogun State. The meeting brought together members of the Ogun JONAPWD Executive Council, cluster chairmen and representatives, as well as selected cluster members.
During the engagement, participants raised several critical issues affecting persons with disabilities in the state. These included the slow implementation of the Ogun State Disability Law, the need for renovation and proper maintenance of the JONAPWD Centre, mobility challenges, limited access to health insurance, high cost of education, shortage of special education teachers in public schools, and the urgent need to establish a Special School in Ota.
Responding to the concerns, Bankole disclosed that he had previously engaged Governor Dapo Abiodun and the Chief of Staff on the full implementation of the Ogun State Disability Law. He assured stakeholders of his continued advocacy and pledged to sustain follow-up efforts until the law is effectively implemented across the state.
He also stressed the importance of sustainability and collective responsibility, urging Ogun JONAPWD to initiate internal fundraising among its clusters to support routine maintenance of the Centre. Members of the association welcomed the suggestion and agreed to adopt the approach.
To further demonstrate his support, the APC PWDs leader donated ₦1,000,000 to facilitate minor renovations at the JONAPWD Centre, particularly the meeting hall, and to encourage regular activities capable of attracting government and stakeholder attention. He also donated five bags of rice to support members of the association.
Bankole advised Ogun JONAPWD to formally document and forward other pressing concerns to the Governor through the Chief of Staff, while copying him to ensure effective follow-up. He encouraged members to remain united, proactive, and resilient in advancing the rights and welfare of persons with disabilities.
Following the meeting, Ogun JONAPWD immediately began identifying priority areas requiring urgent repairs and has contacted artisans for quotations, paving the way for renovation work to commence without delay.
