Ekiti State government has commiserated with the families of some workers of Ekiti State Government that were involved in a ghastly motor accident at Ara Ekiti, in Ijero Local Government while returning from the Annual General Meeting of a cooperative society of a government parastatal in Ado-Ekiti.
The Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Mr Foluso Daramola, who was at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido Ekiti, and Ijero specialist Hospital, Ijero Ekiti, to ascertain the health condition of the victims, was informed that out of the eighteen passengers in the bus, three people died in the accident while other passengers suffered various degrees of injuries.
Mr Daramola commended the prompt response of the Divisional Police Office, Ijero, for coordinating the rescue operation and swiftly conveying the victims of the accident to the hospital.
Mr Daramola, who said that the Ekiti State Government placed a high premium on the welfare of the less privileged in the society, promised that the State Government will leave no stone unturned, to take proper care of the survivors, as well as take care of the funeral of the three deceased persons.
INN gathers that one of the passengers was at the intensive care unit, while the remaining fifteen (15) passengers were receiving treatment at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido Ekiti.
All the passengers in the bus are Deaf, save for the driver of the bus Mr Atanda Fatai.
According to the driver of the bus with registration number LAGOS XV 249 KSF, Mr Atanda Fatai, the accident occurred as a result of break failure.
The Principal of Special School for the Deaf, Ikoro Ekiti, Mr Akinwumi Ojo, denied the social media report that they were going to Odo Owa Ekiti in Ijero Local Government for his father’s burial.
He stated that he is an indegene of Ikere Ekiti, and that his father had died 35years ago.
INN gathers according to a source that the victims were traveling for their former principal wife’s burial when the incident occurred
Some of the relatives of the victims at the hospital, thanked Dr. Kayode Fayemi for his prompt response, by sending an Executive Council member.
