Sale Braden Keana, the Chairman of the Nasarawa State Disability Rights Commission, visited the newly constructed Nasarawa State Secretarial building in Lafia. The visit was aimed at granting the Chairman the chance to interact with the contractors and architects to assess the level of accessibility for people with disabilities in the new building.
During the inspection on Sunday, 25 August, 2024, Sale emphasized that 2024 has been designated as the “Year of Implementation” for disability rights in Nasarawa State. This is because the state government has been actively raising awareness about the needs and rights of people with disabilities since the previous year.
“Our aim is to ensure that all public buildings in Nasarawa State, including this new Secretarial building, are accessible and inclusive for everyone, regardless of their physical, sensory, or cognitive abilities.
“We want to work closely with the contractors and architects to identify and address any accessibility gaps, so that people with disabilities, including those who are physically challenged or visually impaired, can freely access and utilize the facilities.”
Sale Braden Keana, also praised the efforts of Governor Abdullahi Sule in championing the cause of people with disabilities in the state.
“The governor’s passion for inclusivity and his commitment to upholding the rights of the disabled community are truly commendable. We are grateful for his support in making Nasarawa a more accessible and accommodating state for all.”
