In a bid to support vulnerable groups, the Abia State government has rolled out palliatives in Umuahia, targeting persons with disabilities (PWDs), civil servants, prison inmates, and others.
The relief distribution extends to residents of the Abia Correctional Center, Amaudo Itumbauzo Center for the Mentally ill Destitute, orphanages, and widows, ensuring broad coverage of disadvantaged communities.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Policies and Intervention, Rev. Fr. Christian Anokwuru, outlined the state’s commitment to a fair and transparent process.
He revealed that 16,800 bags of 50kg rice and 13,260 bags of maize were initially received. The maize was converted into rice, increasing the total number of rice bags distributed to 30,800 in the first phase of the initiative.
