The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Special Needs and Equal Opportunities, Hon. Mohammed Abba Isa, has reaffirmed the firm commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to the empowerment and training of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) and individuals with special needs across Nigeria.
Speaking during the inauguration of the 9ja Food Fiesta free training programme in Katsina State, Hon. Abba Isa emphasized the administration’s unwavering dedication to inclusive development. The programme aims to train 2,000 youths, women, and persons with disabilities in vocational skills that foster economic independence.
The initiative is a collaborative effort between 9ja Food Fiesta and the Katsina State Ministry of Women Affairs, with support from the First Lady of Katsina State, Hajiya Zulaihat Abdullahi Dikko. It offers training in fashion design, agriculture (fishery and poultry), culinary arts, and ICT-related skills including website design, graphic design, and data processing.
Abba Isa, represented by Comrade Dahiru Gambo Rafindadi—APC PWD Leader in Katsina State and National Coordinator of the APC State and Zonal PWD Leaders Forum—commended the inclusiveness of the programme. He noted that the active involvement of persons with disabilities in both the planning and implementation stages reflects a progressive model for social intervention.
He lauded the commitment of all organizers and stakeholders, especially the Katsina State Ministry of Women Affairs, for their pivotal role in ensuring the success of the initiative.
Abba Isa pledged continued support for similar inclusive programmes, stressing that promoting equal access to empowerment opportunities is not just a policy priority, but a moral imperative for national development.
