The First Lady of Bauchi State, Hajiya Dr. Aisha Bala Mohammed, has restated her firm dedication to promoting inclusion, dignity, and economic empowerment for persons with disabilities as the state marked the 2025 International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD).
Speaking at the commemoration event held at the Dr. Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu Square, the First Lady commended the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), led by the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, for its nationwide empowerment programme. She highlighted that 250 beneficiaries—including persons with disabilities, disabled military and police veterans, and other vulnerable groups—received ₦200,000 each to support their small businesses and strengthen their economic independence.
Dr. Aisha Bala Mohammed noted that inclusion remains a moral obligation and an essential pathway to building a just society. She described persons with disabilities as individuals of great talent, resilience, and potential who deserve equal opportunities and sustained support.
She urged government institutions, private sectors, community stakeholders, and families to work collectively in fostering a society where accessibility, respect, and empowerment are guaranteed for every citizen.
