Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong has approved the inclusion of the representative of association of Persons with Disabilities in the state Task Force Committee on COVID-19 Trust Fund.
This is coming after INN earlier reported that the governor had approved the inclusion of the representative of persons with disabilities, the Disabilities Rights Commission in the high-powered Task Force Commitee on COVID-19 in the state.
In a statement signed by the office of the secretary to the government of the state and sent to the representative of the Disabilities Rights Commission, the committee is said to be chaired by the deputy governor of the state, Prof. Sony G. Tyoden and other high-powered members in the state.
The committee which also includes representatives from SEMA, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Jama’atu Nasri Islam (JNI), Plateau Youth Council (PYC), National Council of Women Societies (NCWS), Plateau Indigenous Dev. Assocation of Nigeria (PIDAN), Elders Council, Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), and GSDP GM, Mrs. Felicity Gurumyen are to make judicious use of the palliative funds to cushion the effects of the COVID-19 for their members in the state.
The secretary to the disabilities rights commission, Carl Gurumyen when contacted by INN has confirmed reception of the appointment letter.
When asked on the distribution of palliatives to persons with disabilities in the state, he said “So far we’ve been able to compile lists of PWD and sent to the ministry of humanitarian, disaster management and social development through Disability Rights Advocacy Center (DRAC) and we have also sent another list to NEMA, all on their request. We are in constant touch with them to ensure that they send something for our people.”
