Lalong Okays Inclusion Of Persons With Disabilities In COVID-19 Task Force Committee

Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong has approved the inclusion of the representative of association of Persons with Disabilities in the state COVID-19 high-powered Task Force Committee.

The Committee, led by the Governor has members of agencies including including Religion Organisations, SEMA, NURTW, NMA, NCW, PIDAN, PYC, among others as a measure to curb the Coronavirus pandemic spread among members of the associations and the state as a whole.

In a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Danladi Abok Atu and sent to the association of persons with disabilities, the committee led by Governor Lalong and it’s high powered agencies are to enforce strict implementation of preventive measures of the pandemic in the state.

The statement obtained by Inclusive News Network (INN) stated that the committee are to intensify information sharing and sensitisation on the dangers of the coronavirus and the precautionary measures in public places.

The committee was also tasked to liaise with relevant government agencies and organizations, etc for the procurement of necessary kits and medical facilities to contain the pandemic.

The statement also read that the Committee will closely monitor goings on in the country and the global arena to be able to learn from experiences of other nations and other states of the federation.

INN also learnt that the State Government has set up a COVID -19 Trust Fund being funded by corporate bodies and individuals to provide paliatives to the less privileged in the state.

The COVID-19 Committee is also expected to manage the Trust Fund.
