The Federal Government has assured Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) that 10 percent of the 400,000 beneficiaries for the forthcoming N-Power programme will be reserved for their members.
Speaker of the Nigeria Peoples’ Disability Parliament, Rasak Adekoya disclosed the development in a letter to its members and obtained by Inclusive News Network (INN).
Adekoya, in the letter, urged disability leaders and organisations of people with disabilities to share the information and spread it across.
The letter read, “The Nigeria Peoples’ Disability Parliament has received this information from the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development and will like as many as possible PWDs to benefit from this.
The Speaker told intending beneficiaries from the disability community that they will only qualify for the programme based on four criteria.
He listed the criteria to include Bank Verification Number (BVN), must not be an employee in any organisation, application will be online while previous applicants of N-power are not eligible.
This year application, Adekoya said will require members to indicate their disability status, urging them to get ready for the application process which will open on June 26 on www.npower.gov.ng.
He assured that more updates will be shared to members on the application progress in due course.
