BOLD Hearts Network, in partnership with Center for Women, Faith & Leadership (CWFL) recently held a workshop on Sexual And Gender Based Violence for Women with Disabilities in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The collaborated program was tagged: CWFL/BOLD Hearts Capstone Project.
The series of talks focused on Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights, as well as the concept of Sexual Gender Based Violence for Women and Girls with Disabilities.
Focus was also on understanding Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) against women and girls with disabilities and the power of sharing our Stories.
The highpoint of the workshop, was the experience sharing session where women with disabilities shared their stories on SGBV. Despite the unsavory experiences of these women sad, it was amazing seeing some of these women moved from being victims to become survivors
The experience sharing session also served as a psychological exercise aimed at removing the muzzle that has stopped so many women with disabilities from speaking out.
The World Council of Churches and FAECARE Foundation also partnered with the project. The program was a huge success according to the organisers.
