The Chairman, Offa Local Government, Hon. Thomas Olajare Olatundun, has approved free medical services for Persons with Disabilities at the General hospital in a Local Government in the State.
The good news was disclosed by Hon. Olajare in an interview with Inclusive News Network after an advocacy visit by the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD) to his office. The group demanded among other things, the establishment of a special school, employment for its members, provision of bus for movement of the association and free medical services etc in the Local Government.
Hon. Olatundun who identified with the group, pledged more support for Persons with Disabilities and donated a token for the group’s transport.
He said “Persons with Disabilities deserve to be granted every required attention with a view to assisting them in their various endeavors. More importantly he noted that the group is recognized by the Federal Government with slots allocated to them in the constitution of the Federal Republic. The chairman called on society to accord them every deserved respect.
According to him, we have been able to identify with them as well while we work toward actualizing our plans for them. Actually, I was looking to link up my council with them when they made the courtesy call.
He advised Persons with Disabilities not to see their disability as a barrier to success or license to beg. He enjoined them to endeavor to keep up with their struggle towards achieving desired objectives.
And here’s the goodnews, “You may equally wish to be intimated that the Council has approved free medical care for all Persons with Disabilities with a view to caring for their health.
“They are already registered for that at the General Hospital, Offa with direct link to the Chief Medical Director, Dr. M O Abdulsalam”
Mallam Muyideen Shittu, Chairperson of JONAPWD, Offa LGA, thanked the chairman for the support and prayed for him.
The group also visited Oyun Local government where similar requests were made. The chairman, Oyun LGA, Dr Abdulwaheed Ibrahim pledged to support with what he can.
