The vice president of the federal republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Prof Yemi Osinbajo along with His Excellency Chief Dr Willie Obiano, yesterday commissioned a Digital Shoe Factory built by Anambra State Government and equipped by the Federal Government at Ogbunike Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State.
Recall that Office of the Governor on Disability Matters (OGDM) in collaboration with Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS) had visited Deaf Shoe Makers in their respective shops located in the vicinity where this factory is now sited.
Interacting with the MD/CEO of Anambra State Small Business Agency ( ASBA) Mr Clems Chukwuka, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Disability Matters Barrister Chuks Ezewuzie requested to know how the new facility will benefit numerous Shoe Makers with Disabilities in the location and all over the state.
The MD/CEO informed the SPAD that ASBA had assisted Deaf Shoe Makers in allocation of shops and provision of equipment. He further explained that Shoes Makers with Disabilities stand to benefit from the newly commissioned facility because, according to him,it’s a shared facility funded by the Federal Government and designed to enhance registration, customization and productions of different designs of shoe soles.
The cost of production will drastically reduce due to enhanced mass production capacity of the machines resulting in efficient and timely supplies as demand increases.
Barrister Ezewuzie expressed appreciation with the inclusive and empowerment policies of Governor Willie Obiano for the entrepreneurs with disabilities. He called on Shoe Makers with disabilities to form their own cooperative societies and take advantage of the facilities made available by Governor Willie Obiano through the Anambra State Small Business Agency (ASBA) for Anambrians with disabilities.
