First ever Miss Deaf Nigeria will be crowned on 1st November, 2019 at Standard Bearer School, Lekki, Lagos.
The Winner of the contest is expected to win 100 thousand Naira cash prize plus a trip to Dubai while the runners-up will cart away with #20,000 each.
Ahead of the highly anticipated Most Beautiful Deaf Girl in Nigeria 2019 Beauty Pageant, INN presents to you the full profile of the contestants.
1. FUNMILAYO OGUNDARI
The Ogun state born Beautiful Queen is looking to build on her already established profile by adding the convert Miss Deaf Nigeria crown to her collection after winning the Miss Deaf South West Beauty Contest last year.
Funmilayo Ogundari is a Professional Makeup Artist and will be representing Miss Ogun at the MBDGN Beauty Pageant.
She aims to win the Convert Crown in order to join the effort of erase stigmatization & negative narrative concerning Deaf Individuals and Persons with Disability.
Her Hobbies Include Basketball Playing and travelling.
2. ODEDINA REBECCA ABOSEDE
Rebecca Abosede Odedina is a 300 Level Student of Lagos State University (affiliation with Federal College of Education (Special) Oyo, Oyo State)
She aims to contest for Miss Deaf Nigeria as Miss Deaf Lagos State.
Her hobbies include Reading, Dancing, Acting and playing basketball.
Rebecca also contested in the last year edition of the Miss Deaf South west and came out as the runners up.
She aims to build a Deaf Creative Dancing group to hunt for upcoming Deaf Talents and as well getting involve in other Pet Projects.
According to her words; “I aim to have a sense of achievement, fulfillment and also I want to inspire other deaf girls that they can achieve any goals they set their sight on”
3. MARIA OKESE
Maria Okese is a professional photographer, photography trainer and art lover.
Her Extracurricular activities include Cooking, Dancing and travelling
She aims to be crown Queen of Nigeria to see through the following goals;
Create awareness on the issues of rising the standard of education for deaf children, to contribute to the society despite their disabilities especially those that resides in Rivers state
Set up a photography training studio to support upcoming Deaf photographers
Help in provision of Employment opportunities to people irrespective of their disability.
Support the persons with disabilities in recognizing their potentials in the society
Request the Government help to render free education for the deaf community through the Hon.commissioner for ministry of Education
4. BLESSING IYASERE
Blessing Iyasere is a 500 Level Student of the prestigious University of Ibadan.
She is Professional Makeup Artist, a Dance Choreographer and Dance Trainer. She will be contesting as Miss Lagos in the MBDGN Event.
Her Hobbies include Basketball, Fashion Show, Reading, Singing and Dancing.
Blessing aims to win the Convert crown because inspire it will serve as a source of motivation towards other Young Deaf Ladies which will in turn boost their confidences and other more life changing goals.
5. PRECIOUS OSHI
The Enugu born Beautiful Damsel, Precious Oshi dances like her life depends on it. She is make-up artist. She will be representing Miss Enugu at the MBDGN Beauty Pageant.
Her hobbies include travelling, dancing and meeting new people.
6. COLUMBA CHINAZO MARYJULIET
Columba Chinazo Maryjuliet is a Model and 200 Level Political Science student of the Federal College of Education, Oyo State.
She aims to be a Professional Makeup artist and skilled bead maker.
She also aim to help children living with these-abilities should she be crowned Miss Deaf Nigeria.
According to her ” People usually tell me I’m beautiful but when they talk to me and I can’t hear them they start feeling sorry for me”, “I see young ladies like me contesting for various pageant, but I cannot join them because I’m Deaf. Now the opportunity I’ve been waiting for is here! Most Beautiful Deaf Girl In Nigeria”
Columba Chinazo Maryjuliet, the 1st Runner up for Miss Deaf South West 2018, will be representing Miss Deaf Anambra State in the MBDGN event by November, 2019 and will likely be representing Nigeria in Miss Deaf World, Miss Deaf International or Miss Deaf Africa should she wins the Crown.
She intends to use her office to help Deaf people in Nigeria, uplift the orphans and the less privilege around Nigeria, assist them by establishing a skill acquisition centre and partner with the governors and other notable leaders in supporting deaf people and the disability world at large.
7. OPALEKE BOLUWATIFE MOPELOLA
Opaleke Boluwatife Mopelola is 300 Level student of Federal College of Education Special Oyo.
She is representing Kwara State in the Miss Deaf 2019.
Her hobbies include Volleyball and reading novels.
She aims to win the covert crown of Miss Deaf Nigeria 2019 because it will go a long way to boost her career, connect her to global opportunities.
8. OLANIRAN OMOYEMI OLUWASOLA
Olaniran Omoyemi Oluwasola is a graduate of Economics. She aims to represent Ondo State.
Her hobbies include reading, culture dance, Basketball Playing and traveling.
9. JOY ORUKPE
JOY ORUKPE is a 200level student of Federal College of Education (Special) Oyo, Oyo state.
She is contesting as Miss Edo
She aims to win the Convert Crown in order to join the effort of erasing stigmatization & negative narrative concerning Deaf Individuals and Persons with Disability.
Her hobbies include playing, joking, acting and dancing.
10. IDAYAT OLADUNNI IBRAHIM
Idaya Oladunni Ibrahim is ND3 level student of Yaba College of Technology in Lagos State. She aims to represent the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja (Miss Abuja) in the MBDGN event.
Her hobbies include watching movies, reading, and cooking.
11. FAVOUR DANIEL
Favour Daniel’s hobbies are dancing, and making friends. She is also a professional hairstylist. She is contesting in the MBDGN event as Miss Cross Rivers.
She dreams of having a big vocational center that will help PWDs to acquire skills and make them independent.
12. OGBONNA GIFT
Ogbonna Gift loves to Dance and Cook. She intends to win the convert crown and use her office to help Deaf people in Nigeria, uplift the orphans and the less privileged around Nigeria, assist them by establishing a skill aquistion centre and partner with the governors and other notable leaders in supporting deaf people and the disability.
She is Contesting as Miss Ebonyi.
